Prompt

Hello readers! It's been a crazy last couple of weeks - you'll have to forgive my lack of posts!
Today I have something fun for you though! For those of you who didn't know, I love to write and am in the process of writing my first book, The Sound of Triumph.

This past week Stephanie at Go Teen Writers changed up her prompt a bit and had us do a 150 Free Write, encouraging us to use the first 150 words of our WIPs. I worked on mine a bit and turned it in! While I didn't place, I did get an honorable mention and thought I'd share with y'all! But before I begin, kudos to my writing companion and best friend, Katy, who placed third! Congrats! Make sure to stop by her blog later this week - usually she posts her prompts! :)

So anyway - here it is! I plan to start posting my prompts every two weeks so get used to it! ;)

Rays of sunlight glistened through a cluster of cottonwood and willow trees that banked themselves on the river’s edge.

Seraphina sat silently admiring the slow flow of the Jordan as it came around the bend. A basket of soiled garments sat next to her untouched, beckoning for her attention. The breeze cooled her sweat-glistened brow and pushed the fallen wisps of her golden tresses behind her ear.  A wistful sigh escaped her lips as she set the tips of her fingers in the cool, flowing waters.

“Sera, aren’t you supposed to be doing laundry?”

Startled, Seraphina broke from her thoughts and turned her head to see her twin brother. At seventeen, he was already tall and handsome – with green eyes the color of the early spring leaves and hair that glistened like gold, he made a great catch for any lady in Menassah.  A sly smile slid across her face.

Like I said, I didn't win. But it was fun! Congrats to all the winners! :)
