ABOUT THE BOOK:

All she wanted was a simple Amish life . . . But now Marianna Sommer finds herself depending on Englisch neighbors. Although proud of living apart from the world, she and her newly relocated Amish family have discovered that life in the remote mountains of Montana requires working together. As Marianna begins helping those different from herself—and receiving their help—her heart contemplates two directions. She’s torn between the Amish man from Indiana whom she has long planned on marrying and the friendly Englischer who models a closer walk with God than she’s ever seen before. Who should have young Marianna’s heart? What is God asking her to sacrifice? Her traditions? Her community? The answer is found along the wooded paths.

The Review:
My Ranking: 8 out of 10 stars
Ages 15 & up

Along Wooded Paths is the second book in Tricia Goyer's Big Sky series, and while I haven't read Beside Still Waters, the first in the series, I found myself enjoying Along Wooded Paths immensely. I did wish I had been able to read it's prequel, but I didn't have trouble understanding this book because of not reading the first.

The characters were well laid out and kept me interested, and the story was very unique and not like most of the Amish novels I've read. Goyer brought up more thought-provoking, irregular struggles and ponderings with her main character, Marianna. I won't giveaway the book by going into that. ;) Another thing I loved was how unpredictable the story was...I am still unsure as to how the series will end!

As I already mentioned, the characters were well written out and easy to relate to. Both men were charming and I was torn between who I wanted Mari to end up with. I think I sided with Englischer, Ben, but Aaron was really charming and had excellent qualities, too. Goyer did wonderfully in making the reader like both guys and being torn between who they wanted to end up with Marianna. I am dying to read the next book and see how each character's story ends!

Sensuality:

Several mildly described kisses(wrapping arms around shoulders, etc)
Character wonders what it would be like to touch shoulders, legs, and arms with a man she has interest in.

All around, this was an excellent book and I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book, Beyond Hope's Valley(April, 2012). If you enjoy Amish fiction, you will love this book! Purchase it HERE!

I've heard such great things about Trisha's books, but I haven't got to read one yet. I didn't sign up for this one, because I hadn't read the first one. I was afraid I'd be lost. Maybe I should have anyway!! :)
